Maths is an integral part of life that we experience every day. Maths activities, like all other Montessori activities are experienced by the child as a very relaxed form of play. Maths ‘work’ should be engaged in as the child wishes and as the child is developmentally ready. Basic maths skills are developed. The Montessori materials provide the child with basic skills for maths exercises. For example: height, length, dimension, boundaries, perimeter, cubic measurement, volume, capacity, empty and full, names of shapes and counting. Each child progresses at his own individual pace. A wide range of Maths materials are provided in the school which teach a child up to age six years.
